- Who can drive my car?
The policyholder and any driver named on the Certificate of Insurance provided that person holds a licence to drive the vehicle or is not disqualified from holding or obtaining a licence (subject to the terms and conditions of the policy).
- What is a no-claims bonus?
A no-claims bonus is a discount to reduce your premium in recognition of the years as a policyholder you have been claims free.
- What is an introductory no claims discount?
An introductory no-claims discount is an amount allowed to reduce your premium in recognition of the number of years of consecutive claims free driving as a named driver on another person's policy.
- What is a protected no claims bonus?
If you pay extra to protect your no-claims bonus, you may have one claim in any period of insurance without affecting your no-claims bonus.
- Does my policy include breakdown cover?
Yes, your policy includes QUINN-
direct Assist cover. This entitles you to roadside assistance and if your car cannot be repaired at the roadside, we will take your vehicle to the nearest garage. We offer a message service to let family and friends know what has happened. If your car cannot be repaired at the scene, we will provide either:
- Transport for you to complete your journey; or
- A replacement car for up to 48 hours; or
- One night's B&B accommodation, while repairs are completed.
The cover applies to vehicles up to 15 years old.

- What should I do if I need to use my Breakdown Assistance?
You need to call the 24-hour breakdown assistance helpline on 0870 737 5550 or 0818 270 166 (from the Republic of Ireland). You will be asked for your policy reference number.
- Will all the contents of my vehicle be covered i.e. stereo, shopping etc?
Contents or Personal possessions in your vehicle are not covered under our motor policy. Radio equipment is covered subject to the terms and conditions of the policy.
- Am I covered to drive other cars?
Provided you have a full EU licence, most of our policies cover the policyholder to drive someone else's car for third party only cover. Other restrictions may apply, please refer to your policy documents to confirm if this extension applies.
- What is legal cover?
Legal cover provides up to £50,000 for legal costs to recover uninsured losses e.g. accident repair costs (if you don't have comprehensive cover), your excess, vehicle hire charges, injury compensation. It also provides a 24 hour legal helpline which gives you free confidential advice for any personal legal problem (under EU law).
- Is windscreen cover available?
Windscreen cover is available for both comprehensive and third party fire & theft policies for a small charge. This provides cover for the windscreens or windows of your car up to £350. There is an excess of £60 (waived if the glass is repaired rather than replaced) and your no-claims bonus will NOT be affected.
- What should I do if I damage my windscreen?
You need to call the 24-hour windscreen helpline on 0800 051 6708. You will be asked for your policy reference number.
- What happens if I'm involved in an accident?
- You should notify the Police immediately
- Note the insurance details of the Third Party involved.
- Note the names, address and telephone numbers of any independent witnesses.

- What is a policy excess?
The first amount of any claim you must pay. We pay the balance.
- How much is the policy excess?
Please refer to your Policy Schedule for details of your policy excess.
- What happens if my car is written off?
We will pay you the market value of the vehicle at the time of the accident but not more than the value specified in the Schedule of Insurance.
- What should I do if I want to make a change to my policy i.e. get another car?

- How do I know what my renewal premium will be?
Your Renewal Notice is automatically issued approx. 30 days before your renewal date.
- What happens if I want to cancel my policy?
You may cancel your policy at any time by notifying us and returning the certificate of insurance. You have the right to cancel your policy without penalty within 14 days, however you will be charged an administration fee of £35 and a fee for the time your policy was active. If you cancel your insurance policy after 14 days please refer to your policy booklet for further details. If you cancel your policy following a claim there will be no refund of premium.
- What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is a course for newly qualified drivers which aims to improve driving skills. It is backed by the Government's Driving Standards Agency and there is no test to take at the end. If you are a first time driver and you have completed the Pass Plus course you may be entitled to a discount on your policy with QUINN-
