The rate of stamp duty in Ireland is 2% before 1st June 09 and rises to 3% thereafter. Policies commencing before 1st June 09 will include 2% stamp duty and policies starting on or after 1st June 09 will include 3% stamp duty. If you make an amendment to your policy on or after 1st June 09, any additional charge will include stamp duty at 3%. The quote you receive will include the stamp duty rate applicable at the policy start date you provide. However, please be aware that if your quote is for a start date before 1st June 2009 but you amend this to a later date, an additional government levy of 1% will be applied to the price we have quoted to you. Please see http://budget.gov.ie/ for more details on the stamp duty increase.
