- What are my contents covered for?
Loss or damage as a result of an insured risk covered by the policy. Subject to the Terms and conditions of the policy your contents are covered for loss or damage arising from a number of risks including fire, flood and theft (see

Yes, up to a value of €2000 for any one item subject to the terms and conditions of the policy.

Yes, we offer up to 5 years No Claims Discount, providing you have held a claim free household policy in your own name.
- If I have items valued at more than €2000 what should I do?
The Contents section of our policy only covers items up to a value of €2000 for any one article subject to the terms and conditions of the policy.
If you have any item exceeding this value then you should list these items separately under the "High value items" section within the quotation.

- How do I know what my renewal premium will be?
The Renewal Notice is automatically issued approx. 30 days before your renewal date.
- What are ‘valuables’?
Valuables - Jewellery, items of gold, silver or other precious metals, timepieces, photographic equipment, binoculars, works of art, antiques, furs, musical instruments, collections of stamps, coins or medals, TV, video, audio and computer equipment.
- Is this a ‘new for old’ policy?
Yes the policy is a 'new for old' policy (apart from floor coverings over five years old, household linens and clothing where we will deduct an amount for wear and tear).
- I use my home for business, am I still covered?
We do not cover homes used for business purposes other than paperwork, telephone calls and computer work. Contents owned by the business are not covered and no liability is covered in relation to the business. If you run a child minding business from home with up to 3 children we can still offer you cover but you will need to contact our private lines call centre on 1890 89 1890.
- Why would I need extra pedal cycle cover?
The Contents section of our policy covers pedal cycles with a value up to €300 subject to the terms and conditions of the policy. If your pedal cycle is valued at more than this you will need to specify it under the "Pedal cycles" section within the quotation. The maximum value we cover is €600.
- What is covered by ‘Accidental Damage’ under my Home Contents Policy?
Accidental damage is any sudden and unexpected damage which is not caused deliberately. Accidental damage is an optional extension to your policy. Cover is subject to the terms and conditions of the policy booklet.

- What happens if I move house?
You will have to cancel your existing policy and take out a new policy on your new home.
- What is the rebuild value of my house?
If you are unsure of the rebuilding value of your house you should get an independent valuation from a builder, architect or surveyor.
- What happens if I want to cancel my policy?
You may cancel your policy at any time by notifying us. If you cancel your policy within the first 14 days, you will be charged an administration fee of €25 and a charge for the time your policy was active. If you cancel your insurance policy after 14 days please refer to your policy booklet for further details. If you cancel your policy following a claim there will be no refund of premium.
- Who can be a joint policyholder?
Anyone who has a joint mortgage with the policy holder.
- Who can I call in an emergency?
If you have a home emergency you can call 1890 882 520 anytime and we will put you in touch with a reputable tradesman (such as a plumber or electrician). You will have to pay any charges from the tradesman called out to help you. Please do not use this helpline to report an insurance claim. If you want to report an incident or claim, please contact the claims helpline on 1850 85 8530.

- Will the new Insurance Compensation Fund levy affect my insurance premium?
The new 2% Insurance Compensation Fund levy applies to policies incepted or renewed on or after 1 January 2012. The price we have quoted you includes this statutory charge.
